Can You Get Rid of Spider Veins for Good?

Though spider veins are generally harmless to your health, you may not like the way the discolored squiggly lines affect your look. The good news is, you can get rid of your spider veins for good.

At Montclair Rejuvenation Center in Verona, New Jersey, we offer many aesthetic treatments to help you get the look you want. For spider veins, we use the intense-pulsed light (IPL) technology on our innovative Venus Versa™ Multi-treatment System, which is the tool we use for our photo facial, laser hair removal, and skin & scar resurfacing services.

What are spider veins?

Your blue, red, or purple spider veins are superficial veins found just below the surface of your skin. They appear because of problems with circulation through these visible veins or nearby veins.

Your veins return blood back to your heart and lungs for re-oxygenation. To keep the blood moving in the right direction, your veins have tiny valves that open and close. These valves prevent blood from flowing backward.

Unfortunately, the valves and walls in your veins are susceptible to damage that may allow blood to leak back and pool, which creates the visible lines.

You may have spider veins anywhere on your body, but they most often appear on the face and legs.

Laser away your spider veins

Though it’s possible your spider veins may disappear on their own over time, in most cases they’re permanent. But with advances in aesthetic tools and treatments, you can get rid of the web-like lines for good.

For our patient’s spider veins, we use the IPL technology in our Venus Versa aesthetic system. The IPL technology uses intense pulses of light that target the pigmented cells in your spider veins. The heat energy damages the walls of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse.

Your body then reroutes blood through healthier veins and the visible spider vein fades away. Because spider veins are so small, it only takes about 3 to 6 weeks for them to completely disappear.

What happens during spider vein treatment?

No matter your aesthetic needs or beauty goals, we develop a personalized treatment plan that best fits your needs. Our spider vein treatments take 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the number, location, and size of your spider veins.

You may feel a snapping sensation during your treatment, but the Venus Versa system has a real-time cooling system that minimizes discomfort. There’s no downtime following spider vein treatment and you can resume your usual activities after your session.

You may notice some redness, bruising, or flaking at the site of your treatment, but these side effects disappear quickly. To completely get rid of your spider veins, we may recommend a series of sessions set at four to six week intervals.

Though we can get rid of your spider veins for good, it’s possible for new ones to pop up, even in the areas we treated. In these cases, we offer maintenance treatments to keep your skin clear.

Spider veins don’t have to be a permanent fixture on your face or legs. Let us help you get rid of them. Call our office or book an appointment online today to schedule your spider vein consultation.
