What Can Microdermabrasion Do For You?

What Can Microdermabrasion Do For You?

When it comes to refreshing your look, you may think of Botox® and fillers, microneedling, or laser treatments before microdermabrasion comes to mind. But this skin and scar resurfacing treatment can brighten your skin and your look with little to no downtime.

At Montclair Rejuvenation Center, our team of estheticians led by Dr. Kelly Distefano offers a wide range of aesthetic and wellness services to meet any beauty need or goal. Though we have many state-of-the-art aesthetic tools, sometimes skin exfoliation with microdermabrasion is all you need.

Here, we want to share with you what microdermabrasion can do for you.

Microdermabrasion 101

When the skin on your legs looks dull and ashy, you may use your loofah to exfoliate the skin to remove the dead skin cells and revive your look.

Microdermabrasion is an upgraded exfoliating tool. Our esthetic professionals use microdermabrasion to gently exfoliate the surface layer of your skin, revealing the healthier, fresher skin underneath.

The resurfacing treatment is painless, but you may feel a mild scratching sensation as the tool glides over your skin.

What microdermabrasion can do

Microdermabrasion rejuvenates your look and treats many common beauty concerns. So, what can microdermabrasion do for you? We use the advanced exfoliating tool to treat:

We may also suggest combining microdermabrasion with topical anti-aging creams or lotions to enhance the results of both treatments. By removing the surface layer of your skin, microdermabrasion allows for deeper penetration of your skin care products.

Microdermabrasion treatment

Though we customize our aesthetic treatments based on your unique skin needs, most microdermabrasion sessions take about 30 minutes. Because the minimally invasive treatment is painless, there’s no need for any topical anesthetic.

During treatment, the microdermabrasion tool gently “sands” away the top layer of skin and then suctions it away. After your session, we apply a moisturizer and sunscreen. We also provide you with at-home skin care instructions to ensure proper healing.

Your skin is more sensitive to the sun after any aesthetic treatment like microdermabrasion. To protect your skin and prevent hyperpigmentation, you need to apply sunscreen daily to the treated area.

There’s no downtime following microdermabrasion. However, your skin may be pink or red for a day or two afterward. Despite the minor side effects, you should see improvements in your skin right away.

Depending on your beauty needs and goals, we may recommend a series of microdermabrasion treatments. For example, when using microdermabrasion for anti-aging, you may benefit from five or more sessions every one to four weeks.

Microdermabrasion brightens your complexion, evens out your skin tone, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
