Are You Unhappy with Your Double Chin? Consider Kybella

The double chin is stubborn, whether you’ve had it all your life or only recently from weight gain.  The extra fullness under the chin is called submental fat, and it’s notoriously difficult to get rid of through diet and exercise.

Are you unhappy with your double chin? At Montclair Rejuvenation Center, our team of aesthetics experts led by Dr. Kelly Distefano has a solution for you — Kybella®.

The double chin dilemma

The pocket of fat under the chin is much like the subcutaneous fat found all over your body. However, its placement affects your look, making your face and chin look fuller, even if you’re at a healthy weight.

Some people are genetically prone to have more fat under their chin and struggle with a double chin all of their lives. Others may develop extra fullness in their face after gaining weight.

Aging is also responsible for the double chin due to changes in skin elasticity and the downward movement of the subcutaneous fat in the face that settles under the chin.

Many people are unhappy about their double chin. And it’s a pocket of fat that’s difficult to get rid of on your own.

When diet and exercise fail to improve your facial profile, Kybella can help.

Kybella to the rescue

Kybella is a medical injection FDA-approved to treat submental fat. It contains deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally found in your body that breaks down fat cells.

We inject the medication into the fat pad under the chin. The active ingredient in Kybella breaks down the fat cells and the body eliminates it, leaving behind a slimmer, trimmer, more aesthetically pleasing facial profile.

If you have moderate to severe submental fullness and you’re unhappy about it, then it’s time to consider Kybella.

What to expect

Kybella is an injection, but we do everything possible to keep you comfortable during your session.

Before creating any treatment plans, our aesthetic experts conduct a thorough consultation to understand concerns and goals fully. We use the information we gather during the consultation to talk to you about your treatment options and create an individualized plan.

For Kybella, we inject the medication using a thin needle into the fat under the chin, making several injections into the fat to get a balanced look. Don’t worry, we apply a numbing lotion to the skin before the injections to minimize pain.

After injections, you can expect some redness and swelling under the chin, but these side effects don’t last long.

Most of our patients need four to six Kybella injection sessions spaced a month apart to get the best results. However,  you can expect to see improvements in your profile after three to four sessions.

If needles make you squeamish, we can use our innovative nonsurgical body contouring tool CoolSculpting® to remove your double chin. CoolSculpting uses a freezing technology to damage fat cells.

Are you unhappy about your double chin? You have options. Give us a call at our office in Verona or West Caldwell, New Jersey, today, or book your double chin consultation using the online booking button.
