Stop Picking At Your Pimples - Try These Treatments Instead

Stop Picking At Your Pimples - Try These Treatments Instead

Popping your own pimples looks easy and seems like the right thing to do, but picking at your pimples may make things worse. When attempting to perform “bathroom” procedures to treat your acne, you may worsen the irritation, cause an infection, or create an acne scar.

At Montclair Rejuvenation Center in Verona and West Caldwell, New Jersey, our team of estheticians led by Dr. Kelly Distefano offers many beauty treatments to improve the look and health of your skin. This includes effective treatments to clear up your blemishes and prevent other skin problems.

Topical treatments for acne

Whether your acne is mild or severe, if you seem to have breakouts all the time, you should consult with a skin care expert for guidance. No single acne treatment works for all types of blemishes and we can help you find the right topical treatment to manage your breakouts.

For example, if you have white heads or blackheads: retinoids, retinoids plus benzoyl peroxide, or salicylic acid treatment works best. For pimples, you might find benzoyl peroxide, a retinoid, or azelaic acid to clear up your skin.

We offer a number of beauty products for all types of acne and can help you get the right topical treatment for your skin.

Facials for breakouts

If you have mild acne, facials make the best choice to clear up your skin and reduce risk of scarring. We offer many types of facials for breakouts, including:

Classic facials

During a classic facial we steam, exfoliate, and massage your skin to improve tone, texture, and health. We also extract blackheads.

Hydrafacial®

The Hydrafacial is a quick customized facial that works a lot like the classic facial, but with special tools and serums.

During a 30-minute Hydrafacial, we clean and exfoliate your skin, extract dirt and debris, nourish your skin with specially blended moisturizers, and apply a serum specific for your acne. Regular Hydrafacials keep your skin bright and vibrant.

Microdermabrasion

During a microdermabrasion, we use a special exfoliating tool to remove the dead cells from the surface of your skin, making your skin look brighter and smoother. Microdermabrasion also improves the look of acne scars.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels are a classic beauty treatment that benefits many skin concerns, including acne. The chemical peel is a type of skin resurfacing treatment that exfoliates the top layers of your skin. The strength of the peel determines the depth of the resurfacing.

For acne, we use a light chemical peel that improves the tone and texture of your skin and reduces inflammation. Because we use a light acid for acne, you can repeat the chemical peel as needed.

We also use chemical peels to treat acne scars.

Picking at your pimples makes things worse. Let us help you clear up your blemishes and improve the look, tone, and texture of your skin.
